Named after a mushroom foraged by the chefs in the nearby woods, the Penny Bun celebrates the land that surrounds it. An old English pub, nestled in the heart of rural Yorkshire; thoughtfully reimagined with sleek poured concrete floors, stylish interiors, and a smoked cork exterior on its outdoor terrace—perfect for lazy summer evenings, gin tastings, and live music. Inspired by their deep connection to nature, the bedrooms reflect this ethos, carefully crafted with both human and ecological well-being in mind.
GIRL was entrusted with creating the full brand identity and accompanying collateral for the pub. At the heart of the design were warmth, human connection, minimalism, and tranquility. The logotype drew inspiration from a note one of the owners had written during the early planning stages, and we carried this honesty through the design, paying homage to the cork and emphasising tonal textures and sustainably sourced papers.
